Changing the Way We Think About Employee-Organizational Relationships
While earning his Master’s degree in Organizational Dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania, his graduate capstone explored the parallels between employee-organizational and interpersonal relationships. The result was an understanding of how employees come to view their organizations as a romantic partner and its impact on organizational and individual performance and productivity. Cecil speaks regularly on this topic, and has been featured in podcasts.
During his Ph.D. studies at Pepperdine University, he led quantitative research on global workforce dynamics and how national culture influences how inclusive systems impact performance and retention. He also speaks on that topic.
A two-tailed goal of his is to help individuals come to terms with the fact they work in large organizations and help large organizations remember they have individuals in them.
Recognizing the Value of Advocacy
He is committed to education advocacy and co-founded the Athena Educational Foundation (501c3), providing scholarships for college-bound students. He authored the book, What to Pack? 21 Essential Stories to Take on Your College Journey, which helps students, through relatable stories, understand they can overcome the inevitable crossroad moments they will experience in college. A percentage of the book’s profits are contributed to the scholarships.
Cecil is a proud alum of Hampton University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He holds a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD in Global Leadership and Change from Pepperdine University.
